About
In 2022, a group of surfers and friends from Rhode Island thought it would be cool to work on visualizing NDBC wave data in different ways. Having backgrounds in Ocean Engineering, Oceanography, and physics they created some simple prototypes of ways to visualize wave data that better matched how they wanted to forecast and observe surf conditions in New England. They loved these new methods, so they took those ideas and built Playbuoy, hoping others would find it useful too.
Playbuoy operates on open data, thanks to NDBC and NOAA's NODD Program.
